It wasn't a DDE relay I was referring too it was a fuel pump relay I was thinking about if equipped sam1er but I think you may have not have a simple relay with your car, but could be wrong, if you have from memory it'll be green. He seemed ok about it on the phone, fingers crossed! Only had the car 2 months lol! The garage i bought it from so far seem ok, they said to get it diagnosed by a local garage and would take it from there, no idea if they will honour any parts/labour costs yet though.

Mechanic has run it for about 40 mins idling with no issues, he will be taking it for a test drive in a little while with diagnostics connected in the hope something flags up.

Il use some shell fuel when i get the car back but it has almost a full tank already as i only made it 35 miles from work from a full tank before the fault start lol. Try to do a few fill ups with high octane fuel on odd occasionsĮlectrics are fine, no issues there when it stalls, acts like i have switched the car off myself via the button when it stalls. You probably heard it all before but try to stay away from supermarket fuels as they use cheaper additives. If you get no loss of electrical power that would eliminate electrical issues.

I guess there is not much option apart from trial and error hereĭoes only the engine stall or do you get loss of electrical power also? only thing that saved me was the queing traffic and being an auto i cant restart the car on the go as you can a manual. Main issue is the drive i do, if it stalls it can be a very dangerous situation, almost had someone go into the back of me last night. The garage i bought the car from said the fuel filter had been done recently but they may have been telling me porkies. Hi Steve, is that the DDE/DME relay your talking about? I need to check if mine has one, i saw this being mentioned as a potential issue on various other threads i was searching through last night. Seen many a diesel with stalling symptoms no faults whatsoever(stalls when coming up to a junction or in slow traffic situations) usually you have to start with the basics and gut feeling an on many occasions we have replaced the fuel filter with a genuine BMW item(we've had the odd issue Mann filters for instance therefore go genuine)and after changing this everything's reported as being fine, depending on your vehicle you may/may not have a relay for the fuel pump if you do its not bad practice if fitted to deal with this too, but I suspect you don't have a separate relay Iv searched the internet and found it could be injectors, dpf, air intake hose weak and collapsing, dde relay, crank or cam sensor but no codes relating to any of those.Īnyone had a similar issue and managed to resolve it? Any help appreciated No strange noises car didnt shake or do anything unusual it just cut out as if i turned it off. Either way theres no way i can trust the car to do my usual 100 miles a day.

It either needs another proper run to get it to happen or its too intermittent to replicate easily. Tried to go forward and backward to replicate but no success.

When i parked up at the petrol station i left it idling for 20 mins or more and didnt cut out at all. Checked the car for errors and nothing obvious just the same usual errors. Managed to get to a petrol station then got the car towed home. Then it started to do it while i was accelerating. This happened a couple more times in stop start traffic. Restarted without any issues but cut out again after i came to a stop again. Was on my way home from work today stuck in traffic and as i was coming to a stop the car just cut out.
